Anchorage Daily News, November 2nd, 2008
NUNAM IQUA -- The body of a man missing since last Monday has been found on the
shoreline near the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta village of Nunam Iqua.
Alaska State Troopers say the remains of Isaac Joe, 39, were found Friday, and troopers
confirmed his identity Saturday. Next of kin has been notified, and troopers do
not suspect foul play.
Joe was reported missing from Nunam Iqua at about noon on Monday, Oct. 27. He had
last been seen two days earlier, and his snowmachine was also missing.
Troopers remind travelers to prepare for emergencies, carry survival gear and be
alert for deteriorating ice conditions.
Nunam Iqua, formerly known as Sheldon Point, is a village of about 200 people on
a south fork of the Yukon River. It is about 500 miles northwest of Anchorage.
